California Pools & Landscape is seeking a dependable, experienced Commercial Pool Technician to join our Service Team. This position is responsible for professional maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and minor repair of commercial swimming pools and related equipment.

Position Summary

The Commercial Pool Technician will perform scheduled weekly service and maintenance at commercial pool properties throughout the assigned service area. Responsibilities include maintaining the pool, adjusting water chemistry, cleaning pools and surrounding areas, inspecting and maintaining pool equipment, performing minor repairs, identifying potential issues, and communicating service needs to supervisors and customers.

This position requires the ability to manage an assigned route efficiently while completing work accurately and professionally with limited direct supervision.

Essential Responsibilities

Pool Maintenance

• Perform all scheduled pool maintenance in accordance with customer contracts and company standards.
• Skim debris, brush walls and floors, clean waterline tile, vacuum pools, and maintain overall pool cleanliness.
• Empty and clean pump, skimmer, and cleaner baskets.
• Backwash and clean filters as required.
• Maintain pool decks and immediate pool areas as specified by the service agreement.
• Inspect pools and surrounding areas for safety, cleanliness, and maintenance concerns.

Water Chemistry

• Test pool water accurately and maintain proper chemical balance.
• Add and adjust chemicals according to established company procedures and health and safety requirements.
• Monitor chlorine, pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness, stabilizer, salt levels, and other applicable water chemistry.
• Identify water-quality issues and take appropriate corrective action.
• Maintain accurate chemical and service records.

Equipment Inspection & Maintenance

• Inspect pumps, filters, heaters, automation systems, chemical systems, valves, plumbing, and other pool equipment.
• Identify equipment problems, leaks, unusual noises, pressure issues, and other potential failures.
• Perform minor repairs and adjustments within the technician’s level of training and authorization.
• Report larger repairs, equipment failures, safety concerns, and other issues promptly.
• Maintain equipment areas in a clean and orderly condition.
• Properly operate and maintain company tools and equipment.

Customer Service & Communication

• Interact with customers, property managers, HOA representatives, and facility staff in a professional and courteous manner.
• Respond appropriately to customer questions and concerns.
• Communicate service issues and recommend repairs to the appropriate supervisor.
• Document completed work, equipment conditions, chemical readings, repairs, and customer communications.
• Use company communication, scheduling, GPS, and service-management systems as required.

Route & Time Management

• Complete assigned service routes efficiently and within established time expectations.
• Arrive at scheduled properties on time and complete all required services before leaving.
• Work independently while maintaining consistent quality and productivity.
• Notify management of delays, access issues, equipment problems, or other circumstances that may affect the route.
• Maintain company vehicle, tools, equipment, and inventory in a clean and organized condition.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous commercial swimming pool service or maintenance experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of pool chemistry and water treatment.
• Basic knowledge of pumps, filters, heaters, valves, plumbing, and pool automation.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic pool equipment and maintenance issues.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass required background and drug screening.
• Basic computer and smartphone skills.
• Ability to read and understand basic written and verbal English.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.

Physical Requirements

The position requires regular physical activity, including:

• Lifting and carrying pool equipment, chemicals, tools, and other materials.
• Bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, climbing, and working in confined areas.
• Working outdoors for extended periods in hot, cold, and changing weather conditions.
• Standing and walking for extended periods.
• Performing repetitive cleaning and maintenance tasks.
• Safely handling pool chemicals in accordance with company procedures.
• Ability to enter or work around swimming pools and be comfortable in the water.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous commercial pool service experience.
• Experience troubleshooting pumps, filters, heaters, chemical systems, and automation.
• Experience performing minor plumbing and equipment repairs.
• Knowledge of commercial pool operating requirements and applicable health and safety standards.
• Pool service or maintenance certification.
• Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience using mobile service-management or scheduling software.
• Ability to train or assist less-experienced technicians.
